Mehlika Ayla Kiser

Mehlika Ayla Kiser's research focuses on the fate and transport of nanomaterials in the environment, particularly in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The aim of her work is to understand the relationship between nanomaterial properties and fate in a WWTP and to develop a model that predicts the fate of nanomaterials in WWTPs. This research could be used to develop appropriate technologies to direct and control nanomaterials in WWTPs and elsewhere in the environment, as well as to inform nanomanufacturers about nanomaterial properties that yield minimal environmental risk. Her other research interests include the use of nanomaterials for water and wastewater treatment, biomimetic (bio-inspired) nanotechnology, and nanomaterial characterization.
