Nanowerk, the leading information provider for all areas of nanotechnologies, added to its nanotechnology information portal a new free service for buyers and vendors of micro- and nanotechnology equipment and services. The new application, called nanoBIDS, is now available. nanoBIDS facilitates the public posting of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for equipment and services from procurement departments in the micro- and nanotechnologies community. nanoBIDS is open to all research organizations and companies.

nanoBIDS is not an auction site but rather an information service to create more visibility between buyers and vendors of laboratory and manufacturing equipment and services.

Using nanoBIDS is easy. Organizations wanting to invite bids can post their RFPs in the nanoBIDS database. Postings will be validated and approved by a Nanowerk administrator. Potential vendors can freely access the RFPs listed on nanoBIDS and submit bids directly – without going through nanoBIDS – to the bid-issuing organization.

Like all other Nanowerk databases and directories, the nanoBIDS database is freely accessible. However, RFP-issuing organizations can request that only nanoBIDS-registered vendors be allowed to access certain RFP and contact details.

As an added service, registered vendors can have procurement opportunities delivered via notification emails or RSS feeds as new bids and RFPs are added to the nanoBIDS database.

A valuable addition to other Nanowerk services – such as the Nanomaterial Database™, the NanoBusiness section, various directories, and a packed events calendar – nanoBIDS is the latest example of Nanowerk’s continuing effort to provide useful, high-quality content and services to the nanotechnology community, far beyond simply collecting and republishing news releases.
