Don’s background as a practicing Industrial Hygienist spans 3 decades beginning as Radiation Safety Officer with North Dakota’s largest radioisotope laboratory. Don holds a Chemistry degree along with graduate school credentials from both NDSU and CSU. Over his career, he has held several senior posts including CEO & Lead Hygienist in a number of environmental engineering firms including HTI Laboratories and Industrial Consultants. As a principle of HTI, Don spent years providing forensic toxicology and OEHS services while also leading the firm to creation of the first EPA-NIST Certified Mobile Laboratory and development of a number of current US environmental laws. Don has worked as a Tribal Executive for the Fort Peck Tribes and as Research Scholar in CSU’s Center for Environmental Toxicology and Technology. Don is past chair of AIHA’s Nanotechnology Working Group and previously served as Corporate EH&S Manager for Albuquerque-based OSO BioPharmaceuticals. More recently, Don joined nanoTox, Inc of Austin, Texas where he holds the post of Vice President - Field Services. In this role, Don continues to apply the vast industrial hygiene and environmental experience he’s gained to support the development of Occupational Health Programs for a wide range of nanotechnology concerns.
